“We instructed NTR to assist us in objecting to a planning application for the residential redevelopment of an existing 12 storey office block in Whetstone. The proposed development includes large upward and outward extensions to this existing tall building. NTR was happy to come and meet me and other members of the Baxendale Residents Association, as well as local stakeholders, on site, and listened to our concerns about the potential impact of this development on the local community, particularly when considered cumulatively with other recent local developments. NTR has been approachable, responsive and demonstrated great flexibility during the pandemic, working with us to meet a deadline whilst stuck abroad with Covid. NTR has helped us understand the options open to us to object to the planning application and explained how we could engage with our local politicians. They worked with us to communicate our message to the local community and supported us at the planning committee, which supported our objections and refused the application.”
BARNET HOUSING ASSOCIATION“NTR have passion and enthusiasm for their projects. This has been our experience working with them on a significant £12m regeneration project on Brighton seafront. Combined with an understanding of how the public perceive and may feel about a project, they have an awareness that translates into practical advice about how to approach a planning application to achieve success and promote inclusiveness. Our project concerned a piece of land that had a wildlife designation and our proposal could have had a very different outcome if it had not been approached in the right way. We worked closely with NTR to explore the arguments and to translate these into visual representations and narrative which conveyed these in an accessible way on the one hand, and which also met the high technical bar required to make the case to key stakeholders. We would certainly work with NTR again, and I would recommend them wholeheartedly.”
KATHARINE PEARCE, BRIGHTON AND HOVE CITY COUNCIL“NTR Planning has been instrumental in helping Samsung secure advertisement and listed building consent at Samsung KX, our brand experience space in Coal Drops Yard, King’s Cross. From the outset they showed an excellent understanding of our commercial requirements and helped us to balance this with the sensitivities and constraints imposed by the listed building and conservation area designations. They have always provided sound professional advice and are proactive and responsive. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with them.”
SAMSUNG UK“We have worked with NTR Planning for many years during which they have helped us deliver a significant number of schemes. Recently, at Bristol Harbourside, they achieved planning permission to allow more flexibility of uses in an existing commercial location – needed to help us respond to a challenging economic environment. As always, NTR were proactive and delivered in a tight timeframe.”
ANDREW MCLAREN, CANADA LIFE“NTR have supported us with a number of our planning applications from significant new buildings to the more unusual such as our new forest school and the required advertising consent for an electronic cricket score board. They are highly knowledgeable and have helped to ensure that all of our applications have not only been successful but also managed as smoothly as possible. They have firmly established themselves as our first port of call for any planning related queries.”
JULIE LERBECH, BURSAR COLF’S SCHOOL“NTR have a genuine understanding and appreciation for what we want to achieve and how the improvement of our estate will benefit young people’s education. Their personal investment in the future of our students is demonstrated by their commitment and attention to detail and resulted in the successful application for our £3m STEM building. This has given us four spacious new science laboratories, a large prep room and six dedicated maths classrooms, enabling the College to expand our STEM provision and provide much needed work and meeting spaces for the curriculum teams.”
ELAINE FRENCH, VICE PRINCIPAL, VARNDEAN COLLEGE“The University of Brighton have been working with NTR Planning over the past few years on a major £300m mixed used partnership development scheme in Brighton. NTR’s well considered advice during the planning process has significantly helped steer a successful course through a very challenging and complex planning environment. During the time we have worked with them, they have presented in an engaging and very professional manner and dealing with them has been a consistent and enjoyable experience.”
NEIL HUMPHREYS, BRIGHTON UNIVERSITY“I have worked with NTR Planning and their Directors for many years. They understand our concept and our needs, and work hard to lead us forward when that is required. I feel that NTR is more a part of Center Parcs itself, rather than being our consultant. They have been strong, supportive, understanding, and are a key part in the delivery of our world class Forest Holiday Villages.”
MARTIN DALBY, CHAIRMAN CENTER PARCS“NTR Planning were recommended to us, and we instructed them to assist in achieving planning permission for the change of use of Green Belt land to a Muslim cemetery. A successful outcome was far from guaranteed as we faced the challenge of communicating the urgent religious need for Muslim burial facilities to one of the less diverse London Boroughs, alongside the need to robustly justify development in the Green Belt. We were impressed by the way NTR Planning took on this challenge, as well as their commitment to gaining and expressing an in-depth understanding of Islam and the burial practices enshrined in our faith.”
FAROUK ISMAIL, FOUNDING TRUSTEE/DIRECTOR OF GARDENS OF PEACE MUSLIM CEMETERY“NTR planning were recommended to us to help us navigate the planning system as we pursued ambitious plans to convert the school estate from an oil-based heating system to a low carbon alternative. The RAAS estate forms part of Gatton Park Registered Park, as well as being within the Green Belt, the Surrey Hills AONB and home to numerous Listed Buildings. We were under pressure to submit the necessary applications quickly, in order to secure access to Government funding and NTR acted swiftly to pull together a team of professionals to ensure a robust application submission. Meghan developed a good rapport with professional colleagues and planning officers and was able to secure the necessary permissions in a timely manner. Given the particular sensitivities of our site, we have had numerous subsequent planning enquiries and we are pleased to have NTR as our ‘go to’ consultant for consistent professional advice.”
THE BURSAR, ROYAL ALEXANDRA AND ALBERT SCHOOL"Working with NTR Planning was seamless from the school’s perspective. Grace was extremely knowledgeable on the planning laws and requirements for Wealden Council and kept all members of the multi-disciplinary team, which included the school (client), architect, lighting specialist and ecologist, on task and on time. I found the advice she gave extremely commercial and believe that it was due to her strong leadership and knowledge of issues that would be important to the planning team at Wealden Council that made it possible to get both our planning applications approved by the Council with no amendments and minimal conditions".
