Proposed Development:

Advertisement and Listed Building consent achieved for Samsung at their prestigious anchor store at Coal Drops Yard, Kings Cross.  The building, designed by Heatherwick Studio is a linking modern addition to two coal drops buildings, one of which is listed.  The whole site is within the Regents Canal Conservation area.   

The store is unusual in that it is a visible second-floor retail space to which pedestrian access is not clearly defined.  The application successfully balanced the commercial needs of Samsung with the sensitivities of the listed building and its location, resulting in a sympathetic wayfinding scheme which won the support of the owners and the planning and conservation officers.
